How to pretreat MMJ clonesOn August 11, 2017 by darren
Always isolate new clones while treating. Before a new clone is placed in the garden please inspect the clone. Upon inspection if treatment is determined needed here are a few different treatments we use.
- Soil & root treatment:
- Leaf & stalk treatment:
- Apply organic neem oil solution to leafs & stalk. Once it is determined the clone has mites apply neem oil solution to the leafs & stalk. Treating the soil first makes flipping the plant for submersion into neem tea easier. If the infestation is severe apply a concentrated organic neem oil, dry clone in-front of fan (15 min(ish) until leafs are dry), then apply neem tea. Last dry the clone in-front of a fan on low speed before putting under light. Make sure all leafs are all the way dry. Any wet leafs will burn under lights.
- Cold treatment:
- 24 hours after soil, root, leaf & stalk treatments are complete place your clone into a small box with a lid. Then place the box (and clone) into the freezer not to be removed for 3-5 days (preferably don’t open the freezer). Cold treatment is debatable as to weather it works or not. We believe this may kill gnats, flies, and other flying bugs but unsure about mites. Test the theory and comment your results below.
- Release live lady bugs:
- If it is determined the clone has aphids the easiest treatment is to set a ladybug free on the plant. First treat the soil with neem tea. After the tea is absorbed top the soil with bottled or bubbled pure water so when the lady bug is placed it will stay. Without fresh water it will leave quickly.
